چکیده

Many Africans in South Africa have high blood pressure. Knowing that how the heart and blood vessels respond to activity can be linked to high blood pressure in later life, we studied the heart and blood vessels of Black South African children. Our results showed that some of the children, when active, had a higher rate of blood flow through their blood vessels compared to others in their group. In young people this higher volume of blood pumped by the heart may predict the development of early high blood pressure and probable diseases of the heart and blood vessels in later life. If the at-risk children could be identified early, the development of heart and blood vessel disease in later life could be prevented. Designing and Constructing Blood Flow Monitoring System to Predict Pressure Ulcers on Heel

Background: A pressure ulcer is a complication related to the need for the care and treatment of primarily disabled and elderly people. With the decrease of the blood flow caused by the pressure loaded, ulcers are formed and the tissue will be wasted with the passage of time. Objective the aim of this study was to construct blood flow monitoring system on the heel tissue which was under external...

Effect of blood flow restriction on metabolic rate and fat oxidation during and after high-intensity intermittent exercise in active male students

Background and Aims: Given the role of blood flow restriction in causing more hemodynamic stress, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of blood flow restriction on the metabolic rate and substrate oxidation during and after high-intensity intermittent exercise (HIIE) in male active students. Method: For this purpose, 10 male active students, selected and in a cross-over de...

A patient-specific study of blood flow in a cerebral aneurysm using medical images

Background: Cerebral aneurysm disease causes intracranial hemorrhage by rupturing, which can eventually, lead to organ failure or death. For this reason, it is important to anticipate the reasons for rupturing of a cerebral aneurysm from biomechanical point of view. Investigating this disease may even help the physicians to find treatments and predict the patient’s situation. This research was ...

Mathematical modeling of blood flow in a stenosed artery under MHD effect through porous medium

In this investigation, a mathematical model for studying oscillatory flow of blood in a stenosed artery under the influence of transverse magnetic field through porous medium has been developed. The equations of motion of blood flow are solved analytically. The analytical expressions for axial velocity, volumetric flow rate, pressure gradient, resistance to blood flow and shear stress have been...
